Kragnes Family Farms CSA

By: Zachary Kreps (Mar 20, 2012)
I just want to share the success story of one of the areas newest Organic CSA. What started out as a trial, the Kragnes Family Farm based CSA made great headway in its inaugural season. Racking up local big names like Maxwell's, Monte's and the Hodo, just to name a few, the CSA is looking to make 2012 an even better year! Personally, I have known the jolly green thumbed giant, Ben Kragnes, for around 5 years. He is one of the greatest guys you'll ever run into. I knew the guy came from a farm family, but I'd never been on the subject of farming with him before. Last year, that all changed. What started out as (what I thought was) just talk, turned into a beautiful reality. I was extremely fortunate to join in on the fun, learning and experiencing the joys of organics. All in all, looking back on the season, it could not have gone any better. He was one of, if not the first, area organic farmers to get their crop in. Add on a great growing season and the end results were phenomenal. I ate like a king last summer and fall. I don't even know where to begin, as far as what I enjoyed the most. I guess, the crop that stood out the most in my mind was the corn. I personally sold their sweet corn in front of the Atomic Coffee in Moorhead You may remember me dancing the street corners). The reviews were pouring in. I tell you, the people spoke, and they loved it! My family alone bought a ridiculous amount of the stuff. With more crops being added, along with a few more options, the Kragnes CSA is looking to be a great location for locally grown organics. I, along with my family and grandparents (each side) are purchasing shares for the season. I'm sure there will be many more following suite! From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the great food and great fun! I'll never forget it! Much Love, Zachary Kreps P.S. I did go a little over board.... but it's all the truth! The yummy, yummy truth!
