Pete's Stand

By: Jo Cole (May 23, 2013)
I have been buying my vegetables from Pete's for over 24 years, first from the man himself, Pete Janiszyn, and now from his son Mike (whom I know has been working with his father and now his son for over 45 years), and Pete's grandson John. I remember all the family members working at the stand and helping pick vegetables. Pete loved to talk about his grandchildren out in the fields picking bushels of beans, and hand weeding. He was proud they were hand workers. It's a true family business. What is better than that.

What I know is that these vegetables are as fresh as you can imagine. You can see the family out picking and drive in with their trucks full of freshly picked vegetables all day. These vegetables aren't just picked the same day, they are picked possibly the same hour you are purchasing them. And they are delicious.

I know they aren't organic, but I also know they don't use chemicals on their vegetables. Not some overly fancy, organic certified, put all their money in the decor, type of stand, but they put their hard work in the vegetables. And they are fresh and chemical free, no funny stuff.

And the prices can't be beat. Almost always the lowest in the area. If the prices are lower somewhere else, you can guess the vegetables have been sitting there for a few days.

Go to Pete's Stand. Support a local family farm.
