We've been CSA members since the inception of Goodwill at Homefields...that was 14 years ago.
In addition to the flexible pick up schedule, the value of the PYO (pick your own) fields cannot be overstated. There are herb beds galore, plus different types of peppers, tomatoes, and fruits like blueberries, strawberries and concord grapes. There are flowers every week to freshen your table.
The regular share of veggies are washed, presented and easy to "pick" from the shelves. The PYO fields are near the barn and easy to navigate. At the end of the season there is gleaning - shareholders may come out to the farm and pick the leftover greens, cabbages, sometimes carrots and potatoes. Great value. The farm employs adults with special needs (IDD and other) who might otherwise be inside working. Homefields, the non profit organization that owns the land and buildings, saved a neighboring farm from certain development. The cost of a share is very competitive.
