Fresh Gardens

Received a box of dry pieces of sugar cane with fungal growth on each end and advanced red rot among several of them. Sugar cane will stay relatively fresh without refrigeration for about 7-8 days at the most and for about twice as long with refrigeration. It appears that these pieces were probably 5-6 weeks old. To add insult to injury, most of the pieces were from the top half of the cane which tends to be the least sweet part of the entire cane. Its doubtful that this vendor grows their own sugar cane; they must have purchased it from another vendor. Would have liked to have returned the pieces for a refund but too disgusted to bother. I wonder about the quality of their other produce they sell.
