Dear Jane, I visited the Spruill Market that same day, finding fresh squash, kale, chard, green beans and blueberries. There may have been more fresh food, but I was in a hurry to get someplace. I got there before 8:15 am, and there was a lady loaded up with food, ready to leave. I suggest you get there very early. They open at 8:00 am. Penny

I am so sorry you were disappointed. We have had a hard Spring with frost and storms destroying many of the crops we were supposed to bring to market this time of year. That coupled with high fuel costs have kept some of our farmers away. Summer crops are starting to come in and produce is becoming more abundant. We have added more vendors and two new farmers. We started picking blueberries two weeks ago. Tomatoes are about 2 weeks out. Also, I recommend coming early. Also please remember that we farmers try to bring what we know we sell at one market. All of our farmers pick as close to market day as possible so that you are getting truly fresh produce. This reduces waste (produce and the farm workers' salaries we have to pay to help us pick, wash, package, and load everything). If you come late, yes we will be sold out of most everything.
