In 2006, I formed The Home Staging Source, one of the first real estate staging companies in WNY. I moved back to our century-old family farm around that time, operating as an active vegetable farm. A bonus to farm life was the ability to grow unique cut flowers in nutrient-rich soil for myself and staged properties. I put out buckets of surplus flowers at our roadside vegetable stand? mostly gladiolus, zinnias, and sunflowers. My flowers were selling out, and orders were coming in.
My spring seed ordering became more intentional as a configured virtual bouquets. I studied floral industry trends, learned what thrived in our climate on our farm, and became a Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener. A national call for AMERICAN GROWN flowers was growing.
I started getting requests for showers and weddings. Eventually, I opened my field to allow people to pick what they liked. The visceral reaction to the field was stunning. It?s a happy place (we're at 7 proposals). In 2015 my business certificate was amended to allow me to pursue flower farming while continuing home staging. My 200? of flowers has become two acres of public u-pick flowers. The 2022 garden will be pushing 4 acres and have roughly 200 varieties (unique seed packs) of flowers and a lavender field. We offer a weekly CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm share subscription and thousands of sunflowers from July through October.
During the off-season, I continue to offer real estate staging services through our sister company, The Home Staging Source, where I prepare homes for sale and offer design services for the Western New York area.
I look forward to meeting you either at the farm or in your home.
