We are an eco-friendly, regenerative farm in Wayne County, Michigan. We are located just a few miles south of Detroit Wayne Metro Airport -- hence our name! We raise pastured, heritage breed pigs, chickens, ducks, and turkeys in an aging fruit orchard and on our native-species agroforestry system. We offer half and whole pigs, pork by the cut, heritage breed American Bresse Chicken, heritage breed turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas, Muscovy duck, and chicken and duck eggs. All of our livestock are raised on pasture among trees; we use no pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers on our farm, so the grasses, forbs, leaves, fruits, and nuts that our animals eat are all produced in accordance with organic methods. We offer our animals a base diet of grains, legumes, and seeds milled at a local mill; these grains are not organic, but they are locally grown. Our pork is processed at a USDA-inspected butcher that does the slaughter, cut, wrapping, smoking, and sausage making. We offer poultry processed on farm to order, and also periodically have larger numbers of birds processed at a state-inspected facility for retail sale.

Market Channels

Schedule and Location:
Our meat products are available all year long, although our pigs usually go to market between May and November; our chickens are processed May through December; our turkeys are processed October through December. You can order online for pick up any time at our farm stand, or visit our farm stand in person during our drop-in hours of Thursday and Friday 2 pm to 6 pm, Saturday 10 am to 4 pm, Sunday 12 pm to 4 pm. If those times don't work, please reach out to schedule an appointment!

A note about our Ark of Taste listings: we do have some Ark of Taste apple varieties that we planted in 2023; it will be a few years before these are producing. Our red mulberries fruit in June usually, but we use them as food for pastured chickens. Our Ark of Taste listed nut trees are not bearing yet, nor are our American persimmons. Our elderberries have just been kind of lame and wimpy so far.

Our breeds of pig vary depending on what we can procure from local breeders (we do not maintain our own breeding stock at this time), and often are other breeds, or crosses of red wattle or mulefoot with other breeds.

Our turkeys are all heritage birds, but are of mixed genetics from foundational stock that includes Bronze, Narragansett, White Holland, and Bourbon Red. I just keep the ones with the best growth and meatiness to breed forward.
