Uprooted LLC

Soon after Sterling Doiron graduated from the University of Maine back in 2011 he wanted to utilize his newly acquired knowledge of Sustainable Agriculture to start his own farm operation. The barriers that most young farmers encounter such as startup capital, limited experience with farming, lack of knowledge about business planning, student loans, and need for off-farm income were the same barriers that discouraged him to move forward with the venture. More than 10 years have passed and the many life events experienced in that time, more specifically, the six years served in the military, have torn down some of those barriers which make it easier to plan and manage a farm business.

Sterling and Patrick met while serving in the military together and became best friends. Patrick made a decision to uproot and drive more than 2,700 miles to Maine to start an agribusiness together and, as a result, Uprooted LLC was born.

Uprooted LLC leased two acres of land from Sterling's Father at the historic site of the Hilton Stock Farm. The farm was built by a distant cousin Benjamin Hilton, in 1910 where he and his sons raised Double Standard Polled Jersey cows, Hereford cows, and White Wyandotte chickens for personal use and breeding stock for local buyers.

This season, we are cultivating two acres organically, intensively and sustainably for farmer?s markets, CSA boxes and wholesale customers.
