Washington Community Farmers Market is open every Saturday morning, 8:30-11am in the Town Pavilion in the center of Washington, opposite the Police Station and Town Hall. Washington is in St. Landry Parish, and located a few miles North of Opelousas, on I-49 (exit #25). The market features fresh locally grown produce from area farms and back yard gardens as well as quality handcrafted items. Vendors must grow or produce their own product.
The non-profit, Steamboat City Association, is the sponsor of the market with support from the Town of Washington. Steamboat City has a booth at the market with information and promotional material available. Business and private sponsors for the market are most welcome!
Some of the featured products are: vegetables, fruit, plants & trees, pickles, fresh eggs,catfish, baked goods, jewelry, ceramics, crocheted baby items, childrens dresses and bonnets, popped kettle korn, paintings, handmade note cards, sweet dough pies, candy, handcrafted gifts.
