2 Acres Farm is a small homestead that raises pastured poultry and eggs, a limited amount of summer vegetables and pastured pork. Our poultry is raised outside on pasture, in the fresh air and sunshine, in portable "chicken tractors." The chicken tractor provides them protection from ground and arial predation. The chickens eat all they grass/clover they want with the addition of all the bugs and worms they can catch. They are supplemented with locally available grain. They are moved daily to fresh pasture. We process chicken in the spring and fall and sell whole chicken, vacuum sealed and ready to cook. They are $15.00 each and average 4 lbs. Our laying flock of 20 hens are free ranged within portable electric fence which is moved to a new location weekly. We use NO petroleum fertilizer or chemical pesticides on our crops. In the winter we use the laying chickens to fertilize our garden area by allowing them to really work up the ground by scratching and tilling in the compost we add that was made the previous summer. Eggs are available daily at our farm stand Apr-Nov and are $3.00 per dozen We intend on raising pastured pork this fall and will be selling a limited amount of 1/2's and whole hogs. Our future enterprise of grass finished lamb will kick off this fall with the arrival of our hair sheep. The sheep and hogs will be raised on another property as they require much more space. At this time we are processing whole chicken in May and September.
