Ingredients:
1 loaf rustic French bread
8 eggs
2 C milk
1 C heavy cream
4-inches of scraped
Vanilla Bean or 1 tsp
Vanilla Extract
¼ t
Cinnamon
¼ t
Nutmeg
1/8 t salt
Topping:
2 T
Maple Syrup
½ t
Cinnamon
½ t Nutmeg
Directions:
Day 1:
- Grease a 9 x 13 baking pan. Slice bread into about 20 1-inch slices.
- In a large mixing bowl combine eggs, milk, cream, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Whisk ingredients together until combined but not frothy
- Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture and place in the pan. Create two rows; there will be some over lapping
- Pour extra egg mixture over the bread
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Day two:
- Preheat oven to 350°F
- Make topping by mixing all ingredients in a medium bowl
- Spread evenly over the French toast and bake for 40 minutes or until golden
