Right now in seedling stage but getting bigger every day! Krishna Tulsi — also known as holy basil — is considered to be a sacred plant in Ayurveda because it has important uses as a medicinal herb. The purple-tinged Krishna Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) really make these plants stand out. Used in religious ceremonies as well as cooking, tulsi may have medicinal qualities similar to neem but it’s a smaller plant that’s easy to grow in a sunny window. Several studies indicate that holy basil contains bio-available antioxidants that help prevent damage from environmental toxins as well as enhanced wound healing. A recent clinical study on anxiety confirms the traditional use of tulsi as a calming tea. Other research indicates that tulsi may have immune-boosting properties. While tulsi can be used in recipes that call for basil, it has a slightly stronger taste. Most often, it’s used in a tea made pouring boiling water over two teaspoons of fresh tulsi leaves. Allow to cool and then strain off the tea before drinking. Add a bit of honey or your favorite sweetner to enhance .... up to you of course!
Our garden is being re-worked/re-planted. Have a LOT of seedling sized tomatoes, loofas & other goodies. Have a lot of basil that is still pickable & great for adding to your meals. Lots of Estella Chaya leaves just waiting for picking & a home. Will it be yours? Pallets! Bet you were wondering what that had to do with a garden & plant business? Tons! My partner is busy making me a new desk after using some of the pallets to repair deck stairs. That's just two of his pallet projects @ the moment. He's working on plans for tables now; coffee tables, end tables, bookshelves & storage chests. Soon these handmade gems, made from re-purposed pallet wood, will be looking for a new home. Check back on our website or on here (Local Harvest) as they are completed.
Just to let everyone know, I've updated the website info for Green Earth Gardens here on Local Harvest. Doesn't have everything we have as yet. It will continue to have more on there. So please be sure to check back often! Also will be listing items on Etsy as well. Will update more on that shortly. Thanks!
