The Black Sheep Cottage is a small urban homestead. My focus is on growing fresh produce, raising healthy, well cared for animals and providing quality finished goods. Heirloom vegetables are grown using organic methods. While not certified organic the homestead has been chemical free for most of its existence. We now have one French Angora buck, Sebastian, living on the farm. I plan to add a French Angora doe Spring 2015. Angora rabbits offer sweet personalities and lovely, soft wool that is wonderful for spinning. Hand-dyed wool yarns are also offered at the homestead. These are mostly mill spun yarns that I dye using both acid and natural dyes. Items made from my yarn will be considered a one of a kind product. With hand-dyeing it is rare to accurately reproduce a color way. As the Dye Garden progresses natural dyed yarns and fabrics will become available. I love to make handmade soap! For now I am offering a honey based soap that is wonderfully soothing with a natural, mild honey fragrance. Lotion bars will be added Spring 2012. These bars are packed with good things that will have a soft fragrance and soften your hands beautifully.
