We also steward 35 forested acres including a creek and oak stands. Echollective also works to conserve prairie grasslands and the habitat which attract the likes of many animals: white-tailed deer, rabbits, coyotes, turkeys, pheasants, a feral black cat colony, and an amazing array of bird species, some of them quite rare.
We distribute our produce to New Pioneer Co-ops, local restaurants, the Field to Family Food Hub, and direct to consumers at the downtown Iowa City Farmers Market. We also have a CSA!! Deliveries will be made to Iowa City and Cedar Rapids for the 2020 season. Contact us for more information and for CSA Signup on our website! echollectivefarm.com
We have been farming for close to 20 years, always using organic and sustainable practices. We use crop rotation techniques to let the earth rest and replenish itself whilst using cover crops in between seasons and plantings to heal and provide the best soil health for our vegetables. We are not USDA Certified Organic but we strive to fulfill those principles nonetheless...and in fact, we work hard to surpass them in many ways. We like to think we are "Beyond Organic."
We select varieties of our vegetables based on their flavor, nutritional content, and uniqueness! Vegetables at supermarkets are selected for their uniformity and their ability to be shipped long distances. You'll taste the difference in our produce!
By supporting local farms, you agree to support agriculture and sustainability in your own community. In years of flood/drought, our shares may be smaller; in years of bounty our shares will be bigger.
