We're very small family farm and one of us is keeping a day job to keep it going.
We started this journey in California after looking to connect with mother earth and some health challenges nudging us. We started a garden and researched everything we could find on growing and food. In doing so we realized how far we had been removed from our food sources and how little we knew about it. Where it came from, how it was processed and so on. Soon we realized that the suburban yard was not big enough and we moved across the country to Savannah GA.
With more land we added chickens and rabbits, an orchard and fishing became our new hobby ( boy do i miss the local oysters ;-) ). I got sick with an autoimmune condition (that is now very well managed and I am still working on healing it) but it put a damper on the suburban farm of 1/4 acre but we still managed to run out of land and so once more we moved that was 2015 and brought us here to Marianna Florida. We now farm and practice animal husbandry on 6+ acres of the 30+ with plans of expansion. We focus on natural and holistic growing and animal practices. We feed non gmo feeds when the land does not provide all since we are very conscientious about what we put in our body and so our meat, eggs, honey and other products are as clean as possible with out paying for an expensive organic certification. We also focus on rare and endangered breeds and work with the livestock conservancy and a few other associations in regards to our heritage breeds. We have registered Myotonic goats, Gulf coast Sheep, Slate, Bronze Chested, and Royal Palms Turkeys a lot of heritage chicken breeds, mini pigs, two peacocks, ducks, 6 livestock guardian dogs, a giant schnauzer and Bobi the macaw along with three cats that we call our own.
We are working on rebuilding the farm after Hurricane Michael, on certifications (Certified Naturally Grown animal ,welfare/humane certified, even though we practice those already) and licenses and are looking forward to adding farm tours later this year (all things going as planned) and Agritourism/ farm stays soon thereafter.
