Peconic Land Trust's Quail Hill Farm

Family Farm
Quail Hill Farm, one of the original Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farms in the U.S., is located in Amagansett, New York, on land donated to the Peconic Land Trust by Deborah Ann Light. Since it was established in 1990, Quail Hill Farm has grown to 30 acres serving over 250 families. The community farm also delivers fresh food to local restaurants and food pantries and participates in two farmers' markets (Sag Harbor and Springs) throughout the season. Each year, Quail Hill Farm signs on to the Farmer's Pledge of the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York: to sustain the land in healthy condition for future generations. Over two hundred summer share families come to the Farm twice a week from June into November to harvest from the fields that include over 500 varieties of vegetables, fruits and flowers planted each year. Those who join for a winter share receive root vegetables, alliums, eggs, and our greenhouse greens, from Thanksgiving into March. A central part of our mission at Quail Hill is to educate the public concerning such issues as soil health, our seed supply, food security, and sustainable, organic farming practices. School groups and children of all ages visit Quail Hill to help with seeding, transplanting, and harvesting. Connecting people with land in this way builds a community that will appreciate and support the stability, integrity, and beauty of the bioregion. Established in 1983, the Peconic Land Trust conserves Long Island's working farms, natural lands and heritage for our communities now and in the future.
