Just outside of downtown Knoxville, Tennessee, a little farm is reclaiming blighted urban land to grow food for our neighbors. Abbey Fields Farm sells produce to seasonal CSA members, local restaurants and grocers, and at an on-site farm stand.
We really do want to be Knoxville's neighborhood farm, and part of that is being a good neighbor! Our goal is to be an asset to the community that hosts us, by providing access to both healthy food and green space.
The life and vibrancy of a community can be apparent in the way neighborhoods are cared for. Just as light and life are contagious in a neighborhood, so are vacancy and blight. By revamping and bringing life to forgotten landscapes we can create and foster a culture of reclamation, stewardship and community pride.
