Dittmar Family Farms is owned and operated by Zach and Jenny Dittmar. Zach is a third generation farmer and has been involved in agriculture all his life. He grew up in a small farm community in South Central Wisconsin where he worked on a dairy farm most of his teenage years. Zach has been an active member in FFA since high school and has taken many small farm management class including the most recent one the Delaware State University Small Farm School Program. We have been farming and providing CSA shares for 3 years now. We started out in our 1/4 acre backyard. The following year we took over our neighbors 1/4 acre back yard at which point we decided to sell our home the following spring and purchase a farm with some acreage. The summer of 2017 we leased 1 acre from a friend while we searched for a farm of our own. In September of 2017 we found our current 40 acre farm situated about half way between Felton and Harrington. On Dittmar Family Farms we practice Regenerative Agriculture. "To us regenerative agriculture is a total change of approach to farming. Instead of focusing solely on the plants needs we focus on the soil and its needs. We strive to work with nature not against it by mimicking what God has designed in His creation. In working with nature and restoring a proper balance to our farms ecosystem we can positively change the way we provide food to our community and insure a bright sustainable future for generations to come." We currently offer CSA shares which can include fruit, vegetables, eggs, meat birds, and fresh flower bouquets. We grow most of our produce and raise all our chickens. The produce we purchase comes from other farms here in Delaware with a similar focus and farming practice as ours. Our laying hens are pasture raised, free range, and are feed an all natural diet. Our meat birds are also raised on pasture and are feed an all natural diet. To sign up for our CSA share or see a list of our produce we offer, see our website or check us out on Facebook. www.dittmarfamilyfarms.simplesite.com
