Merkel Farm is a six generation family farm and the 2002 winner of the Historic Landmarks John Arnold Award for Rural Preservation. The farm, which was once home to dairy cattle, is now home to over 100 Boer goats which are being marketing for their meat. Herbs and vegetables are grown using natural methods and are pesticide free. The produce is sold from the farm, at the Bateville Village Green farmers' market on Saturdays and to FarmFresh CSA, a vegetable subscription service. Stop at the farm to see the lovable goats and visit the gift shop "Ye Olde FarmHouse" where you will find a unique shop filled with home and garden decor, bird houses, antiques, garden iron, and handcrafted gifts. Field trips and farm tours can be scheduled from spring to fall.

I took my 2 year old to Merkel's the other day and we had so much fun. It's very well taken care of, very clean and everyone is friendly. My daughter was able to pet a tame baby goat and a small bunny.... [more]
Nice farm and gift shop! It's fun for the kids to see the goats and chickens, and occasionally the kittens will make an appearance! The gift shop is great as well!
The farm has events in the Fall for hayrides, pumpkin patch, etc. which we really enjoyed.
