Nestled in a valley protected on all sides by ozark foothills just five miles from the mississippi river, and 45 miles south of the city of st.louis, Ozark Harvest Farms consists of five acres of forest, one acre of creek, and five acres of fertile bottomland, the majority of our feilds are sown with a diverse line of of vegatables, fruits, herbs,and flowers, we include hybrids selected for quality as well as heirlooms varieties. Some of which appear on the "slow foods ark of taste ". naturally Our weeds are removed manually (often by hand ) with out the use of chemicals. our feilds are enriched using nurtient rich compost and seaweed, . Insects are controlled through crop rotations as well as attention toward maintaining a balanced farm ecololgy.
this is a picture of one of fifty garden sites at ozark harvest farms, notice the section of austrian winter pea's that missed being tilled in,they grew to a height of about four feet! because of the ample rain in 08. they are grown as a cover crop in order to improve soil fertility, without the use of chemicals.
