DCGP builds community through food. By increasing access to fresh, locally-grown produce, we empower our community to make healthy and sustainable food choices. We use school gardens, farm stands and educational programs to help diverse communities in Alabama build vibrant food systems. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, we operate school gardens at University Place and Stillman Heights Elementary schools where biweekly lessons are taught in science and math with added components of nutrition. Using the garden, students help grow the vegetables which they then help sell in our Budding Entrepreneurs Program at an on-site, subsidized Farm Stand. We are working to expand into more schools in Alabama. Find out how you can help by visiting our website.
