Real Food Farm is Civic Works' innovative urban agricultural enterprise engaged in growing fresh produce on six acres of land in Clifton Park in northeast Baltimore. Real Food Farm works toward a just and sustainable food system by improving neighborhood access to healthy food, providing experience-based education, and developing an economically viable, environmentally responsible local agriculture sector. As both a business and social venture, Real Food Farm aims to fulfill four interconnected goals: 1. Improve neighborhood access to healthy food by growing produce, making markets accessible and affordable to low-income customers, and by providing opportunities for dialogue and programs that develop attitudes and behaviors toward healthy eating. 2. Develop Baltimore's vibrant agriculture sector through provision of skills training, creation of jobs, and demonstration of a replicable and sustainable business model. 3. Provide hands-on education opportunities in order to increase Baltimore students' nutritional knowledge, positive attitudes toward healthy food choices, and awareness of food systems and environmental sustainability by providing engaging experience-based educational programs. 4. Protect the environment and improve the watershed by following environmentally sustainable farming practices and localizing consumption.
