I love my CSA for many reasons. The first year I signed up, my son was 2 and my daughter was 6 months and just starting solids. I loved introducing them both to sustainable, fresh, heart healthy foods. For my son, I pretty much sauteed everything in olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper, and he ate everything. And for my daughter I pureed anything that could be pureed. Also we tried many vegetables that we would have never tried had it not been for the CSA, such as walla walla onions, scapes, and kolrabi. Farmer Phil always provided a list of what to expect in the upcoming box and recipes to boot. I'm very happy I took a chance with the CSA a few years ago.

My family received a weekly share of fruits and veggies in Manhattan this summer and fall. Each delivery offered a bounty of hearty, fresh, wet and colorful REAL food. I received things I've never seen in a grocery store and enjoyed introducing my family and friends to all of it. Dealing with "Farmer Phil", as he's become known in our household, was also a treat. We look forward to more delicious and healthy produce next summer.

I grew up with large vegetable gardens and fruit trees in MA and VT, so I'm used to, or rather remember, the superior taste of fresh food, but what I've most enjoyed about Barefoot Organics is the exceptional quality and flavor of their heirloom produce, which surpasses the traditionally grown plants that I grew up with - among our favorites were the sweet peaches that seemed to have a butterfat content to them, the orange cherry tomatoes, our first kohlrabi (who knew?), the kabocha that was so sweet, those early onions, all the fruit and greens - and the kale and swiss chard we'd all disliked in the past but now can't wait to have again - every week was great. The Swiss Chard was sweet and tender. The Broccoli Rabe leaves were full of flavor. But nothing compares to those tomatoes! Anyone who has tasted a locally grown, organic Heirloom tomato would never be able to buy those rock-hard, pale pink things that some markets sell as tomatoes. And Barefoot Organics offers an amazing variety, all picked fresh and ready for eating.

We have been members of Barefoot Organics for two years and are looking forward to a third season next summer. The vegetables and fruits delivered by Phil Stober to us on Manhattan's UWS are always fresh, delicious and organic. Each week we are delighted with the exceptional variety and bounty in our box. We are happy to see some of our favorites - such as Lacinato kale, lettuces, tiger tomatoes, juicy berries and peaches - and experiment with some less familiar varieties. Our full-share box is plenty for our family and frequent guests with only occasional small supplements from green markets. We miss our special deliveries during this long winter!

As a member of several different CSA's in the past 15 or 20 years, including one in Virginia and four in Pennsylvania, I can attest to the top quality of the produce from Barefoot Organics. This past season, my husband and I received a full share. We enjoyed the great variety and freshness all summer and well into the fall. With lots left over to freeze, we are continuing to enjoy beans, kale, broccoli, apples, peaches, sweet potatoes, zucchini and much more throughout the winter. The great variety of tomatoes was an added bonus, and of course, my favorite -- arugula!

I have been a member of the Bare Foot Organics CSA from the very beginning, 2 years ago. As a registered dietitian and an avid farmers market shopper, I was thrilled when Phil Stober came to the West Side to offer his CSA to my building and others around us. Every week between June and November I look forward to the box of vegetables and fruit that we receive. I have been inspired to cook foods I never would buy on my own and to experiment in the kitchen on an ongoing basis thanks to the bounty of items we get every week. I highly recommend joining the Bare Foot Organics CSA if you have the ability!
