K. Schlegel Fruit Farm

We are a small family farm in central Pa. We grow apples, peaches, plums, cherries, nectarines, pears, sweet corn, cantaloupe, watermelon, pumpkins, and a few other small crops on 30 acres. We are a 3rd generation family farm. We apply IPPM (Integrated Pest and Pollinator Management) methods in all of our growing decisions, with insect mating disruption being one of the main methods used to control pest in the orchard. By implementing these measures we have been able to reduce our pesticide usage by up to 80% making our apples some of the safest grown. We have abandoned all use of organophospates, carbamates and pyrethroids in our growing techniques. We sell direct from the farm, online through our website and also attend 5 local farmer's markets.
