The Urban Acre Homestead is a 1 acre market garden within the Urban Growth Boundary of Portland, Oregon. The site hosts a diverse range of plants and projects, including fruit and nut trees, berries, tea plants, medicinal and culinary herbs, mason bees, a small laying duck flock, cultivated mushrooms, and vegetable gardens. I also make handmade baskets from harvested English ivy and grape vine. The property is enlisted in the Backyard Habitat Program and I have taken Metro's No Pesticide Pledge. As a former farm hand on many different certified organics farms, I apply the same practices, and hope to add certifications to the name as the business grows. I am always happy to answer questions about what does or doesn't get used, and how our ducks are raised.

Since the Urban Acre is nestled in a neighborhood, I make a special effort to cater to the locals, hosting famstands on site. Much work is being done to restore the property with the soil, plant and animal health in mind, and we do this as much for the neighborhood as for ourselves. I truly believe that small neighborhood farms make an important contribution to urban food chains, and thank you for supporting your local farmers who work hard to feed you the best!
