Willing Horse Farm is named for the Haflinger horses that provide the primary power for tillage of the vegetable fields. The mission for this farm is: "Growing sustainable food, farms, and community." While we are not certified organic, we use no chemicals and pay close attention to the nutrient and energy cycle on the farm. Our primary import is hay and a small amount of grain for the horses. Chickens for egg and meat production also play an important role. This farm is blessed with amazing soil, a good water supply, and terrific location on the east edge of the city limits. We grow a wide variety of vegetables, but our signature crops are Incredible fresh sweet corn, tons of sweet potatoes, and on-site produced Sweet Sorghum Syrup made the old-fashioned way from the horse-powered press through the wood-fired evaporator pan to the mason jar bottle of richly-flavored syrup.
