Your Garden Harvest

'Your Garden Harvest' is a new service starting for the 2014 growing season. As the name implies, your vegetables are grown in your own backyard. The ultimate in local food! All work, from the initial set-up, to planting, weeding, watering, pest control and harvest is done by us, for the full growing season. All transplants are started by us from seed at Apponagansett Farm, providing you with the best varieties for our geographical location and the security that no GMO's or chemicals were used in their propagation. Your Garden Harvest plot is custom designed to include only those vegetables, herbs and cut flowers you want. It will also contain a northeastern wildflower mix to attract beneficial insects and pollinators, in addition to year round color. You will receive a weekly basket of field washed vegetables from your own garden (comparable to our regular CSA share) to your doorstep - no need to make a separate trip. One bonus feature of having your vegetables grown in your own garden is the extra harvesting you can do yourself! Need an extra tomato for your salad but have none left from your weekly basket? - No problem, a delicious heirloom tomato can be only a few feet away! Finally, at the end of the season we can either plant a cover crop on your garden plot to protect the soil from erosion and provide organic matter in preparation for a second season of growing, or seed it back into grass if you prefer.
