Key Peninsula Farmers Market

The Key Peninsula Farmers Market no longer exists.

In 2010, Dale Schultz ran a farmers market in the former KPFM location in Key Center called, Gig Harbor Farmers Market at Key Peninsula. Based on an agreement with the KP Community Council, Schultz has the right to run a farmers market in that location for three years. Schultz opted not to run a market in Key Center in 2011.

Former KP farmers market customers have a variety of options for purchasing local food. Gig Harbor continues to run two farmers markets - seasonally on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Also, there is a seasonal Friday farmers market in Olalla and a Saturday market in old town Port Orchard, along the water.

Additionally, the former KPFM manager, Holly Hendrick, has started a year-round, local food co-op, Fresh Food Revolution; the FFR co-op is a non-profit, membership organization serving the farmers, ranchers, food producers and consumers in the KP/GH area.

======================================== The Key Peninsula Farmers Market will be starting its second season at the end of May and run through the end of September 2009. We are a not-for-profit group under the KP Community Council dedicated to supporting our local farmers and ranchers and providing fresh, healthy, locally grown food to our community.

Our vibrant Farmers Market offers a variety of good, local, organic foods, including: wild greens, lettuce, fresh herbs, fresh flowers, strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, radishes, onions, peppers, potatoes, free range eggs, honey, beeswax candles, smoked and fresh frozen salmon, locally roasted coffee, fresh baked breads, pastries and cookies and more!

I lsupport the market because it is my neighbors who are growing food and creating arts and crafts. I know the people who are there, some know me. It is almost like a block party you might see in some city--except of course our scenery is better! I like buying fresh, homegrown food as opposed to wondering how many miles a tomato or brussell sprout had to travel before it hits my table.... [more]

The Key Peninsula Farmers Market is all local - all the farmers, food producers and crafters live within 20 miles of the market site. The market enjoys fantastic support from our community - we're keeping our dollars local.... [more]

Great stuff! Reasonable prices, good quality, and friendly vendors. Couldn't be a better value. Buy local and support your neighbors.
