American Chestnut Land Trust

Double Oak is a small Community Supported Agriculture farm initiated by the American Chestnut Land Trust as part of their mission to connect people to the land. In addition to preserving and managing over 3000 acres and 15 miles of trails in Calvert County, MD the Trust wanted to return some of the fields formerly used for tobacco production to agricultural use. The farm uses organic practices but is not certified. It is operated by ACLT volunteers, work share participants in the CSA and paid interns. We provide shares of vegetables for a 26 week season, sell produce to local restaurants with an interest in cooking with locally grown food and make weekly donations to two shelters.
