The goal of this market is to increase access to fresh, locally grown food in the east downtown area of Louisville, KY. In 2010, we began accepting EBT/Debit cards at the market to make it easier for residents to shop at the market. We also have vendors that accept vouchers from the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition program.
The Gray Street Farmers Market's SNAP Dollar for Dollar program, which benefits SNAP recipients, will be available again this year. This incentive program is in its fourth year and allows SNAP customers to double their money at the market. We will match SNAP funds dollar-for-dollar up to $20 a week.
The University of Louisville School of Public Health worked with several non-profit organizations to launch the Gray Street Farmers Market in 2009. Our partner organizations currently include Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness, Norton Hospital, The American Red Cross, Family Health Centers, and the University of Louisville.
We plan to reopen in 2022.
