On our farm, cattle have access to fresh grass, ponds, natural springs, shade trees and a large barn. Our cattle graze on lush pastures that are not treated with any chemicals. Cattle are rotated through our pastures every couple of days to ensure that they are getting the best that our farm has to offer! We do not supplement them with any sort of grain. The cattle on our farm are born and raised here and are always fed the grass and hay from our farm. We take great pride in being good stewards of the land and treating our animals with the care and respect that they deserve.
We have recently added pork to our products as well. The hogs are born on a friends farm, right down the road. They are started out there, then moved to our farm to finish out. The pigs enjoy our organically raised produce to snack on. Our hogs are given a bit of feed, in a custom mixture, not anything straight off the shelf. They are given less than one gallon per day between them to share. Our pigs are moved twice a day to fresh pasture, so that they can forage from bugs, grass, nutrients and more!
We have joined forces with another farm to provide chickens to our customers as well. These chickens are raised on pasture and are moved once or twice per day to ensure that they are eating the best, freshest grass available.
We hope to have eggs available in the near future.
Persimmon Ridge Farm has a small orchard and small vineyard that are over 50 years old. These were planted long before we were born, but we are currently investing much time, effort and energy to help these plants thrive!
We currently sell at our local Farmers Market and are a mobile vendor, allowing us to set up at shows to sell our meat. We also offer farm tours to public and private schools, non profit groups and more. These spots are limited, so make your reservations early!
We purchased a large commercial greenhouse this year and hope to be able to produce many organically raised veggies throughout the winter months.
We also own and operate an all meat CSA. Customers buy in each month and I deliver meat to them. We offer our beef, pork and chicken in our CSA. We will be adding eggs, herbs, greens and more throughout the winter months as add-ons. Spaces are limited in our CSA.
