We are a family of four beginning our seventh season as an organic farm. Consisting of 20 acres, the farm is surrounded by woods on all sides in a quiet, rural area located 15 miles east of Frankenmuth. Six hoophouses (unheated greenhouses) are used for germination and season extension providing greens year round. We also grow various small grains, cover crop seed and hay for mulch and compost material. Black plastic is not used for weed suppression; instead we use a blend of hand tools to complement cultivating tractors. We have NEVER used organic approved insecticides like neem, pyrethrum or Bt; instead, we place heavy emphasis on nurturing a well-balanced soil. This not only allows plants to use their own immunity to ward off pests and disease, but also provides the support needed to grow high quality, nutrient-dense vegetables.
In the our six years selling at Farmer's Markets we have NEVER sold any vegetables other than what we have grown on our land. What's on our market table is grown by us!
