We're in the fast lane now, folks! Weather has finally settled enough to begin to plant dozens of seedlings into the soil. Keeping the young ones watered and sheltered from too much sun and wind has been a priority. Time to start the hot weather herbs and flowers. And NOW, farmers market season has arrived. Ah, what an amazing juggling act!

All of the indomitable perennial herbs and wonderful "weeds" are abundant, and we harvest as much as we can dry or otherwise preserve as quickly as we can. Ditto for ephemeral cool weather flowers. Have you noticed now rapidly we are moving from one rhythm to the next?

Please consider being a member of our 2018 HERB & FLOWER CSA--it's a wonderful way to deepen your appreciation and skill in using these plant allies. Our goal is to provide you with a goodie box of fresh herbs and greens, ready-to-use herbal products, and utterly fresh, chemical-free floral arrangements to nurture your body and soul.

Come visit! Our two farmstay guest rooms are available if you are passing through, need a quiet getaway, or want to help put up our repurposed hoop house! We are convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Peaks of Otter, and great hiking and James River water activity. Phone or email ahead for availability and weather conditions.

Other offerings: dried tea/culinary herbs; herbal vinegars and other value-added herb products; seedling sales, farm tours/talk on ecological/spiritual practices applied to small-scale growing. seasonal cooking, fermentation and food preservation classes (bread-baking; kombucha; fermented vegetables; yogurt culture); farmstays at Sister Nettle B&B; Product /book reviews; food writing; Entertaining and informative "show & tell" programs for your group or event; Recipe development; Natural foods freelance or personal chef service.

Join our natural foods buying club and receive great food at good prices (Frankferd Farms Foods in Saxonburg PA is the distributor; see www.frankferd.com). If you would like to collaborate on our orders, please get in touch. We look forward to sharing with you!
