Redwing Farm is a partnership between Cacia Huff and Sydney Buffington - two dynamic young ladies (if we do say so ourselves!) in our second season of farming here on Whidbey Island. Hailing from California and Georgia respectively, Sydney and Cacia both moved to Whidbey in 2013 to spend a year apprenticing as organic farmers. Prior to 2013, Cacia studied agroecology at UCSC and interned on several organic farms in California and Mexico, and spent 3 years as an organic certification specialist. Sydney has spent much of her time working at her local nature center and in many food service positions. She wants organic, local produce to be available and attainable for local restaurants and consumers. This year, we're back to start our own farm, equipped with the skills and knowledge we gleaned last year and confident in our abilities to produce healthy food for the local community.
Redwing farm is certified organic, which means we are inspected by a third party agency that ensures we are growing vegetables in a way that takes into account the health of the greater ecosystem, and does not use synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. Surrounded by wetlands, woods, and open fields, Redwing takes pride in stewarding the land and providing fresh, nourishing, clean food for you and your family.
