Located in the heart of a stream valley that is home to one of the nation's longest continuous African American urban populations, the Heritage Park Farm Stand is a miracle. Started by children in the neighborhood and now run by a team called the DC Park Savers, the farm market stands on the site of a former heroin market-- a powerful symbol of this once forgotten community renewing itself. Customers can find a variety of very fresh organic food grown nearby at the Urban Oasis farm led by Community Harvest, along with local music and celebration.
