Willoway Farm is a 7 acre small family farm using organic, permaculture and biodynamic farming methods. We currently grow produce and flowers all from either certfied organic seed, heirloom seeds or our own saved seed. We grow on 1 1/2 acre-plus with raised permanent beds alternating with clover seeded footpaths. Our goal is to maintain our microorganisms and quality of soil nutrients and minerals by treading lightly on the land & grow quality produce. We use hand tools for cultivation and even use a scythe for cutting the clover and grasses. We also raise chicken layers whom are fed certified organic feed and go inside or outside at there leisure. We have a small herd of Finn sheep who graze the grasses and weeds, provide manure, and fiber. In addition we raise honeybees for the biodiversity. We do floral arrangements for weddings and events. Now in the winter we are gearing up for the 2013 growing season. We have a website with photos, farm information and our CSA application: www.willowayfarm.net . We have had a CSA for 7 years now with great success. Our member limit is 35 so if you want it, the spots may fill up quickly. Our chickens are fed certified organic feed, greens, no hormones or antibiotics and have complete freedom of movement. The chickens prefer to stay indoors in the winter but free roam inside the poultry barn, when snow covered ground. We refuse to use GMO seeds or any products. Our fertility comes mostly from on farm from our sheep and chicken manure combined in a compost pile with off farm aged heifer manure. We practice companion planting, beneficial insect plant habitats, cover crops, permaculture (elderberries, hazelnuts, strawberries, raspberries, young apple orchard among perennial herbs , flowers and asparagus and rhubarb) . We are proud to introduce our second child Summer with her older brother Samuel.
