Marc's Garden at Double M Farm

Marc's Garden at Double M Farm is a small family based interest. We have been growing on our property in Falcon since 1990. While we were producing for our own consumption our values of quality not quantity were our guiding light. This remains our top priority. It is of high importance to us that we use only natural growing methods. Our primary fertilizers are manures of different farm animals, with Horse and chicken being the primary. As time has progressed so has our interest in providing for more than our own pantry. In 2009, we had approximately 1/3 of an acre under plow. With the advent of having tripled our normal growth we sold a limited amount of product through a local farmer's market. We were greeted with great warmth by both the other vendors and consumers. This was accomplished while only tending the farm as a part-time venture. With such a successful first step, we committed to a full time venture for the 2010 growing season. The commitment to natural production has been expanded with a small hoop house (16ftx55ft) to improve production quantity and reliability of a few products that don't do well in the high altitude plains (7000ft) of our area. In addition to the new structure in 2010, we expanded to a total of 2 3/8 Acres in 2012. We have been growing a few Heritage or Heirloom products for most of the years we have been gardening. As we began our expansion in 2009 we made a stronger commitment to these heritage products for both the flavor and value that they bring to our table and yours. This commitment only grows stronger as we continue to grow our endeavors. For the 2010 growing season we offered 6 CSA Shares. While this was very limited we did not increase that number until we had strong favorable results for our share holders. The shares have been normalized and expanded over the years. We now offer a total of 12 shares broken up into four different groups. One share is offered as an apprentice share with a competitive application process. This allows us to both share our knowledge base and quality products while receiving some greatly needed additional labor in exchange. One share is a pure working share that is a simple trade of labor for food type program. This is also offered using a competitive application process. Seven Shares are standard Full Shares offered at large to the public. Six Shares are standard Half Shares offered at large to the public. Our driving motivation is to give back both through shared knowledge, and high quality food products at reasonable prices.
