Katchkie Farm is a year-round organic farming operation owned by Great Performances. Katchkie Farm represents Great Performances' commitment to celebrating local flavors while supporting sustainable agriculture, good earth practices, and community. Katchkie sits on 60 acres in Columbia County, NY, yielding its first harvest in 2007. Farm Manager, Bob Walker, transformed the never-before-farmed property, building the essential infrastructure.
Our farm supplies over 800 New Yorkers with fresh produce in the form of community and workplace CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture). Katchkie provides a robust CSA experience - simplifying pick-ups by delivering to workplaces and pre-packing the shares so that it's easier than grocery shopping. Our goal is to make fresh, local produce easy and accessible while participating in sustainable and organic agricultural practices.
The additional produce is used by our cafes, our main kitchen and the source for a line of artisanal products including Tomato Jam. As a unique resource to GP, the Farm is the inspiration for the company's precedent-setting 100 Mile Menu for which all principal ingredients are sourced from within a 100-mile radius of New York City.
Katchkie Farm is home to The Sylvia Center, an educational nonprofit that introduces children to the pleasures and benefits of healthful food through farm visits and cooking workshops. The Sylvia Center also runs New York City cooking workshops in at their Hudson Square kitchen and in local schools.
