Our passion is growing high quality, nutritious vegetables that are picked fresh and marketed directly to our community! Our produce can be found at the Salem Saturday Market, through a weekly produce share also known as a CSA, and at our seasonal Farm Stand open May through September. We take great pride in crafting a CSA that is full of high quality, diverse and carefully chosen vegetables and fruit. The backbone of our CSA are favorites such as carrots, blueberries, broccoli, tomatoes, cooking greens plus herbs and alliums (onions, garlic leeks) for cooking. Your share will change with the seasons- peas and radishes in the spring, green beans, corn, and cukes in the summer, cauliflower, winter squash, and Brussels sprouts in the fall. Each week we think carefully about the mix of produce going into the share- looking at the bounty in the field, what produce pares well together in the kitchen, the mix of produce in the previous weeks and what future shares will bring. We try to include fruit as much as possible- strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries in the summer, grapes and apples from neighboring farms. Two CSA share sizes provide options to meet your needs, plus we are proud to offer a market-style pick-up option at our Farm Stand where you can choose certain items each week which offers more choice and flexibility.
Minto Island Growers was started in 2008 by Chris and Elizabeth who are passionate about plants and met at Colorado College. Elizabeth grew up working on the family farm in Salem, which has been in the Miller family since the 1970s. Chris has a background in environmental science and riparian restoration. Please don't hesitate to contact us with questions about our CSA, our farming practices, and ways we are involved with the Salem community!
