GreenView Aquaponics Family Farm and Apiary is a small family farm that has commercial aquaponics systems, heritage breed poultry, and an apiary. That means that at our family farm, you will find:
Commercial aquaponics hybrid systems that include media beds, deep water culture, dutch buckets, and vertical systems, where we grow and breed Blue Nile Tilapia, Red Nile Tilapia, and Koi in conjunction with healthy microgreens, lots of herbs, including 11 varieties of basils, salad crops and gourmet greens, edible fruits and flowers, edible water plants, and many heirloom vegetables. At times we also have live plants and seedlings available that have been started on the farm using non-GMO seed and chemical-free practices. And we are constantly testing out new plants and ideas and are willing to try to custom grow something new on request. To find our what fresh produce is in season at our farm, please visit our website or our marketplace on Square.
Rhode Island Red and Auraucana Chickens that means farm fresh eggs for sale (onsite at the farm only). Feel free to bring your own carton. Our chickens are raised in as natural an environment as possible while keeping them safe from predators in their chicken tractors. We use only non-go feed for our livestock. Just joining the flock are heritage breed turkeys - Bourbon Reds and Royal Palms! We are working a pastured poultry model with heritage breeds.
Honey bees. We pride ourselves in practicing natural beekeeping, that means no sugar water being fed and no pesticides. Our bee-related products are seasonal and include local unadulterated honey, beeswax, herbal soaps/moisturizers/lip balm. Our honey is pure and sweet!
In aquaponics, we have to be very careful about introducing things to the system since most chemicals (even those on the OMRI approved list) will kill either the plants or the fish. So, our farm is chemical- and GMO-free; thereby, we use only things that are available naturally in nature or is a part of integrated pest management, which excludes all fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, antibiotics, hormones. We are proud truly beyond organic...
Currently, we will offer farm tours, First Saturdays of the Month as well as some homesteading, beekeeping, aquaponics and sustainable living classes throughout the year. Please check our events calendar on our website (or Eventbrite). Come see what aquaponics and sustainable farming is all about. Bring your own ice and Ice chest if you are interested in fresh tilapia whole on ice only, pastured poultry, or a bucket if you'd like some aerated worm tea. Please contact us before showing up at the farm.
