Nathan's Naturals is a small farm just outside Colville with a generational vision (grandparents through grandchildren working together). We're in the process of becoming Certified Organic, just waiting for the official inspection. We've been growing food products for many years now--sustainably, naturally, no artificial chemical products. Our focus is on making the soil continually richer to produce healthier produce--we use chicken manures from our flocks, cover crops and crop rotation from year to year. We grow a wide variety of mostly heirloom, open-pollinated fruits and vegetables. This year's offerings include everbearing strawberries, golden raspberries, spring snap peas, carrots, broccoli and cabbage, green beans, onions, 4 varieties of garlic, a variety of lettuces, spinach, kale, cucumbers (including picklers), tomatoes, tomatillos, sweet peppers in various colors, Anaheim and poblano peppers, watermelon. New this year, we're also growing rose geranium and lemon cucumber for distilling into essential oils and hydrosols. We'd like to expand that in coming years--more quantity, more variety. We've been raising chickens for several years for eggs and meat. We sell eggs (pastured, but not organic) but don't sell meat. Our meat birds are Freedom Rangers which have an excellent flavor and are a hardier, healthier breed than the typical Cornish cross. Currently we're raising produce on 1.5 acres, but we've applied to certify 8 acres so we can increase the amount of garden space as well as pasture.
