New Oaks is a sustainable family farm entering our second season of production. Our first year was a huge success and we are planning big things for 2012. We believe in feeding our soil rather than the crops and our on-farm composting and livestock grazing rotations will be central to making the farm truly sustainable. As we rebuild the soil, we hope to eliminate the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides completely. Our goal is to provide the freshest, most attractive produce you can find!

We are currently accepting members for our Summer 2012 CSA. Our service does not require any commitments (you can start or stop when you like), and allows payment as your weekly boxes are delivered rather than up front. The produce you will receive is grown on our farm in Person County, or by other local growers that practice similar sustainable agriculture to New Oaks. You can pick up produce at one of two locations: Central Durham (2031 W. Club Blvd) and South Durham (6452 Barbee Rd)/

Members have the ability to manage their accounts through a fully integrated web-based system that will allow you to customize the contents of your scheduled delivery, and manage when you don't receive your recurring box.

You can sign up for a small ($18) or standard ($23) box of produce (add $5 for home delivery options). Once each week, on Friday morning, you will get an email containing a link to a web store that will show you what we are planning to deliver in your box the next Wednesday. You can add to your order, take items out and replace them with other available products or do nothing and receive the box as packed, containing a good selection of produce available in season in the Piedmont.

We plant extensive spring, summer and fall gardens on the farm and plan to harvest lettuce and other salad greens throughout the winter, using organic season extension practices.

What makes New Oaks different? - We grow the majority of what we sell ourselves on our repurposed family tobacco farm. - Durham, Person and Orange counties are the communities we were created to serve. This is not a "business model" for us, its a way to preserve our family tradition and serve OUR community.

We also sell produce at the just opened South Durham Farmers Market (Greenwood Commons Shopping Center at the intersection of Hwy 55 and Sedwick Rd) and the Person County Farmers Market.

We reserve the right to make delivery decisions on a case by case basis. Even if your home is in the shaded area on the map, there may be practical difficulties that make regular delivery too cumbersome. If that happens, you may cancel membership with no penalty or elect to pick up at a drop location.

We look forward to serving you! Please call us if you have any questions.
