In 2014, Chef Ben Bebenroth moved his family of four to Spring Hill Farm (now Spice Acres). The homestead was not only perfect for raising his kids, it was also a dream come true - encompassing 13 acres of rich, Ohio landscape where he could grow and nurture the plants and livestock needed for his catering and restaurant businesses.
Spice Acres is a unique gem in the country. It's one of only a few farms that are part of a leasing program in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park called the Countryside Initiative. Managed in partnership with the Countryside Conservancy, it is the only program in the country that conserves National Park land through sustainable farming.
At Spice Acres Chef Ben raises pastured laying hens, bees, unique fruits and vegetables, and flowers free of GMOs and synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. He strives for closed energy loops, reducing waste, and embracing the seasonality that NE Ohio offers. Ben shares his passion for local produce and connection to the land through elegant on-farm dinners, U-pick flowers, barn rentals, food-centric events, outdoor yoga, a self-serve farm stand, and farm share program.
