Far from downtown, pleasant and quiet. David is very friendly and passionate about the food he is growing. We used to buy the chicken from Kroger and Costco, but we don't get that real taste. We came to know about this farm very recently and we brought chicken twice from David. It is definitely the best chicken we bought in Louisville. For Indian people who are looking for local chicken, Naatu kodi, or Naatu Koli, this is where you get that. Many do know where to get the local chicken; here it's called Freedom Rangers.

Field 51 is great. This year was our first time participating in a CSA. The pick up process runs smoothly, the produce is high quality and I love having access to local meat, too! We will be joining again next year. Thanks for all of the hard work, Dave!

I have had the joy of knowing and eating Dave's vegetables, I guess going on three or four years now. Apparently he is a great farmer because I always have plenty of good, yummy vegetables for a wonderfully long season -- the heirloom tomatoes are to die for!! I hate it when the season ends and I have to go back to buying my produce at Kroger -- just not the same. I highly recommend Field 51 Produce if you wish to support your local farmers and economy, protect mother earth, and eat well.

We had the luck of meeting Dave out at Dropseed just weeks after moving to Kentucky. What a find! Not only do we now eat off the land, but its bounty comes right to our door once a week. As vegetarians, we battled a bunch of stereotypes about eating well without meat in these parts. But Field 51 makes it so easy to feast. There is enough in the delivery for large, solid and diverse meals all week. The arugula, eggplant, spaghetti squash, and butter lettuce were particular favorites. We now put hot peppers in almost everything because we always have them. And don't miss the okra, should Dave plant it again!

Dave is the BEST. It is so great to be able to get fresh organic produce so close to home. The variety is super and he even provides recipes for some produce. He offers free grazing chicken, lamb and turkeys as well as the best eggs in the country. You can't beat Field 51.

Field 51 Produce is one of my favorite things about the Louisville area. In addition to getting outstanding produce via the CSA, I love that I can run out to the farm to get eggs, chicken, etc. - that has been raised in a humane, open-pasture environment. Dave and his dogs are always warm and welcoming when I visit. As a bonus, Dave's weekly email is a joy to read. Good writing is not terribly common these days... which makes me appreciate Dave's weekly commentary even more.

Farmer Dave is passionate about farming and educating you about his practices. His weekly communication is great to give you a heads up on what you will be receiving in your basket. He's always trying new things which are fun and different. This past year he discovered how delicious and nutritious sweet potato vines are and passed them on to the CSA. This is great for me as a mom to get my children to try new things. Produce is always fresh and CLEAN. I have nothing but admiration for this farm and the job Farmer Dave is doing and I am so glad I became a part of his CSA.

I have participated in several CSAs in the Cincinnat area and this Louisville CSA is one of the best I have found. The vegetables are fresh and delicious with different selections each week. Dave gives new members a tour of the farm which is. very informative. Glad I found this one.

Dave / Field 51 are a true local asset to the Louisville area! Besides amazing vegetables, his free range chickens are the best. Aside from his products being an excellent value, he's a pleasure to work with.

We have been a part of the Field 51 CSA for four years and have been very happy every year. Dave is great to work with and always has fabulous produce. It feels good to know that we have access to free range eggs, chicken and turkeys plus all of the pesticide free produce. We feel very lucky to have discovered Dave and Field 51...........he always has surprises like honey from his farm and jam made from a local weed!! One of the best decisions that we ever made!! Thanks Dave. You are truly appreciated!!

Dave is absolutely wonderful! Our associates loved the variety, quantity and quality of the produce he delivered. They also appreciated the opportunity to purchase the fresh eggs, chicken, lamb, Turkey lotto and cookbook that was available. Dave also came to our office to discuss the CSA and teach our staff about eating locally. We really enjoyed the weekly email with the upcoming delivery information and hearing what's happening on the farm. We can't wait until next spring and offering this great benefit to our staff.

I feel so lucky to have found Field 51 and Farmer Dave. Our weekly basket overflows with delicious fresh vegetables every week. He provides an excellent variety and my kids are eating all types of new vegetables thanks to Farmer Dave! We are also big fans of the chicken. The farm is a great place to tour and Farmer Dave is so patient (and funny) showing my kids around. They love to look for eggs and chase the turkeys. And I love knowing where our food is coming from. Farmer Dave runs a well organized and clean CSA, he is extremely generous and passionate about his farm. I can't say enough good things!

I'm a first-time CSA participant and I signed up with Field 51 because it received such good reviews. What a smart choice! The produce is delicious, the meats are so flavorful, and Dave is an absoute gem. Our area is lucky to have such a dedicated and hard-working farmer. Dave always takes the time to talk with you and to answer your questions and he has been known to tediously prepare peppers to be roasted for homemade paprika. I can't say enough nice things about Dave or his farm. I've already signed up for next year.

In addition to the delicious produce, Field 51 offers eggs, milk, chickens, and lamb. This year we also had honey (some of the most delicious honey I've ever had), fresh herbs, pork and beef from other local sources. All of it is organic, natural, free range, and hormone/antibiotic free. If that's not enough, another participant created a CSA cookbook. Fair warning though, once you try some of the greens that you cannot get anywhere else (tatsoi, senposai), you will be hooked!

It is nice to tour the farm and know exactly where your food is coming from. He delivers within the area of Oldham county and to some locations downtown. Delivery is a great blessing. You will feel better eating locally harvested food. He also has eggs, free range lamb and chicken. Running a CSA is hard work and Dave does a great job.

We switched from a different CSA to Field 51 in 2011 and loved it so much we signed up for 2012. The produce is wonderful and the overall experience is very special. We truly felt Farmer Dave wanted us to be knowledgable about the farm, the process and the food. The communication via email was excellent and included many useful recipes. Can't wait for Spring!

I was a fine dining chef for 8 years in the 1980s and never got produce of as high quality as I get from Field 51. The variety is amazing, the cleanliness sparkling, etc., it's photo-worthy stuff. Dave runs a well organized operation that's always ready for pickup when customers arrive. He's always friendly and fun to talk to, passionate about what he does, and great at sharing recipes via email. For anyone contemplating a CSA basket next year, I can't recommend Field 51 more strongly.

This was our third (or was is fourth?) year with Field 51 and we feel very fortunate to be a part of it. Dave and Margaret are top notch folks!...and what they grow is a direct reflection of them. The weekly bounty is VERY plentiful and diverse. We always look forward to Thursdays!!!! Thanks Margaret and Dave for all your hard work (and patience...ha!)!

We have been with Farmer Dave since his first year and have nothing but praise for him. The quality and variety of his produce is excellent and he simply gets better each year. My kids love going and feeding the chickens and bringing back the weekly harvest. Dave is not only a great farmer but a very good person and the kind of neighbor that makes our community great. Keep up the good work Dave !

We are charter members of Field 51 and have just finished our fourth season with Dave and Margaret. This is our first CSA experience, and it has been wonderful. We are already looking forward to Season 5! Dave and Margaret work so hard to provide us with wonderfully fresh produce. We are never disappointed with our basket of goodies each week during the season. We also have become big fans of the delicious chickens from the farm and served them at our recent dinner group gathering which we had themed "Celebrating Local Foods." During the season, we always look forward to Thursdays and our visits to the farm. Thank you, Dave and Margaret! See you in the spring!

Every Thursday in season is a special day we look forward to. The excitement of discovering what new delights Dave has for us keeps us in suspense. From old favorites to new taste treats, it's always a full bounty of fresh and delicious vegetables. When we can't use it all in a week, we freeze the overflow or pickle or can it. We are still enjoying summer's bounty and will be for some time.

As a former chef and current food writer, I know what good, raw ingredients should look like, and I must say Dave Keal's produce is better than any I ever used at any restaurant. HIs produce is impeccably fresh, properly harvested and clean, clean.

The atmosphere at the farm makes it a joy to and pick up my veggies. In fact, I sort of regret it when my neighbor says she's going to pick up our baskets and I don't get to see Dave, the chickens and other customers because I miss out on a lot of what this whole fresh foods movement is about: earth, animals, food and people.

Dave is always full of suggestions for recipes or cooking methods, and he's relentlessly cheerful despite my endless questions. I love Field 51 and cannot recommend it highly enough. I'm so looking forward to our upcoming fourth year of being customers.

It is as refreshing to visit David at his farm than it is to eat his vegetables, for he is equally devoted to the quality and variety of his produce than he is to the satisfaction of his clientele

We Love Love Love Dave and Margaret. They work very hard growing superior quality veggies, chickens and lamb. We receive a large bounty every week, consistently... and the EGGS...ahh the eggs...the BEST I have EVER had. BEST greens too! Arugula, carrots, turnips, beets, potatoes, radishes...I could go on. I also enjoy the drive out to the farm and hanging out for a while. TEN STARS!!!!!

My dog & I look so forward to Thursday's and going out to Goshen to Dave's farm. We visit the sheep & chickens, snoop around the planting beds, and best of all pick up an overflowing basket of the freshest & most beautiful organic produce imaginable.

The year starts with baby lettuces, potatoes, garlic, onions, strawberries, eggplants, peppers. Moves on to tomatoes, squashs, melons, carrots, celery. Ends with greens, winter squashes, brocolli, cauliflower. And of course there are many treats like flowers & herbs throughout, & even artichokes this year. I think we counted some 52 different things that Dave grows.

Just writing this has made my mouth water for the tomatoes which we won't taste again until next summer.

Although I've been wanting to for years, this was my first experience with CSA. I was impressed with the bountiful harvest in light of the dry growing season we had. The greens, my favorite, were fabulous! The eggs were the best! I've gotten eggs from friends CSA's and they were not nearly as good as Dave's. Friends who participate in other CSA's did not get nearly the kind of quality food I got from Dave. Would definitely recommend! Great value for the dollar!

We had a great experience with Field 51. This was our first experience with a CSA. Dave gave us a tour of the farm and explained his philosophy and how the CSA worked, all before we signed up. He sent out weekly e-mails with updates and communication of what we could expect each pick-up, and any extra chicken, eggs, lamb, etc. available. We enjoyed the variety of produce, and tried many new recipes. Would definitely recommend.
