Stoecker Farms: Farming America For Over 100 Years.
Stoecker Farms is a 4th generation family vegetable farm. Our great grandfather started the family vegetable operation in Middle River, Maryland early in the 20th century. The operation passed to our Grandfather upon the death of his father. This generation developed a wholesale operation delivering to local businesses in Lexington Market and Belair Market. In 1977, Charles (Chuck) Stoecker continued the tradition started by his grandfather of directly selling to consumers, as a founding farmer at the Baltimore City Farmers Market. This was truly a family farm operation, with his wife and children working on the farm and at the market with him to bring the freshest produce to the Baltimore City Farmers Market as well as other markets in the city and county.
Chuck Stoecker enjoyed the interaction with his customers and the opportunity to share his knowledge of academic and hands on agriculture. A graduate of the University of Maryland, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Chuck would always be wearing his University of Maryland - Terps - baseball cap to the Market. This rich heritage was passed to Charles Stoecker upon the tragic death of Chuck in November, 2007. Charles Stoecker has continue his father's legacy. Expanding the number of farmers markets and introducing a CSA.
