Terra Local, a company dedicated to local food and sustainable agriculture in the Ashtabula County area, has developed a market that caters to the needs of local food producers and buyers alike. Unlike a traditional farmer's market where farmers present and sell their own product, Terra Local will consign local food for producers in a consolidated format, more like an outdoor grocer, where consumers will select foods from several different growers and cash out once. The market will accept cash, check, credit cards and SNAP benefits. Terra Local plans to offer locally grown produce, meat, eggs and cheese, local honey, maple syrup and value-added local products such as jellies will also be available. In addition to the consolidated market, a number of juried artisan vendors will offer locally produced items. Terra Local expects to host the market each Saturday from June through October. We are passionate about the health, environmental and socioeconomic benefits of a thriving local food system.
