Getting started, here at Leschland, is probably later than most. We are late bloomers. My husband and I are on a life do-over, finding each other only a few years ago. We have four children 17 to 22, and are finally at a place were we can start living our dreams.
Striving to be self sustainable, and belonging to a community that lives and supports that ideal is amazing to us. We are on the cusp of going from almost one, jam backed, acre to hunting for 100+. Market garden will NOT be that big!
I am sure we are jumping in earlier than we probably should. We just want to be sure to hold our place in line, I guess. What will we be doing, you ask? Here are our goals to be able to provide:
- heirloom vegetables
- heirloom/heritage fruits
- herbs, everyday and hard to find varieties
- fleece; goat, sheep and alpaca
- eggs (of course), of heritage chickens
- cabin rentals
- farm tours, camps and events to be hosted
All with natural practices
This promises to be a great year. Hope to see you soon.
