My husband and I started a non certified organic garden four years ago outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Originally we intended to feed ourselves and family-friends with enough to preserve for winter. While not new to gardening I had not grown in Michigan since my childhood. In 2010 with more food than we could eat and donate we decided to triple our size and offer a family-friend informal CSA. We use sustainable-organic practices. Our Araucana hens provide eggs for our CSA as well. We raise American Chinchilla Rabbits of which breed stock pedigrees are available. American Chin's are listed on the ARK of taste. Visit Scio Valley American Chinchillas and MadarasDesign.com.
Small CSA featuring organic Heirloom-ARK varieties and unusual suspects. We grow fabulous tomatoes and greens in addition to okra, carrots, beans, herbs, squash, peppers, beets, spicy radish, flowers and so much more. We also raise heritage chickens and rare breed (endangered) American Chinchilla Rabbits for show and breed stock. Our goal is to offer the not-so-ordinary and support precious heirloom and ARK varieties. Our desire is to live a sustainable lifestyle and raise healthy food.
