Pierce City's Farmers' Market re-emerged in this small SW Missouri town in June, 2011. This year the season will begin in May, a month earlier than last year, and we expect to once again serve up baskets of beautiful yellow, zucchini and scallop squashes, onions, beets and green beans. If we're gifted with rain, corn will be available. Missed it last year!
A favorite local farmer with an enormous U-Pick farm was pleased with his crops last year, despite heavy rains and then lack thereof. Another farmer igave us bountiful amounts of fresh herbs. Bouquets of lemon and chocolate basil, spearmint and varieties of peppermint. For a treat to go along with the bounty from the earth, you can step over to the baker's tables for blueberry and strawberry tarts, fresh from the oven white and wheat bread, chocolate chip cookies, lemon poppy seed muffins and the ever popular, turtles.
2012 promises a generous bounty of produce from our farms to your tables. Bon appetit!
