Spring Brook Farm is a 6th generation farm with 3 generations in residence. Since reaching "retirement age", we have returned to our roots, opening a farm store on the farm and joining the Cumberland Farmers' Market Association in 1997. The store is open year round--Monday-Friday, noon to 6:00 pm and Saturday, 9:00 am to 4pm. We also attend the Cumberland Farmers' Market Asso. in Cumberland and Falmouth.
Greg and Kay now lease the farm to Jeff Storey and still "putter" with Jeff taking over the management of the farm and Market. We offer 100% grass fed beef. We use no pesticides, herbicides, commercial fertilizers, hormones or antibiotics Our steers are pastured year round--freely grazing in the spring and summer, and in winter, eating the hay which we have harvested. Our pigs chickens, and hens are humanly raised and our pork, poultry, chicken pies, and eggs are fresh and tasty. We have carefully chosen our USDA certified butcher for his gentle handling of our animals and his cleanliness.
We offer all local, seasonal vegetables and fruits. We start in May with fiddleheads from a secret place on the Royall River, rhubarb and asparagus. June brings in the strawberries and lettuces, spinach and beet greens. July and August find us rushing to harvest and prepare peas, green beans, corn, cucumbers, carrots, onions, beets, summer squash, brocolli and cauliflower, raspberries and wild, Maine blueberries.. September and October have us lugging the winter vegetables and field pumpkins into the farm stand.
You are welcome to visit us at the farm. We are a working farm and you will find us in our "working clothes". Your children are welcome to wander, under your supervision, about the farm, visiting with the cows, calves, pigs, chickens, dogs, cnd cats, playing with the farm toys and getting dirty, picking their own flowers and raspberries and observing real farmers and a real farm in operation.
